Bowling Green Tournament Results

“Many positives and a lot of self-reflection has come out of this past weekend at Bowling Green.”  The girls started out the tournament with a 3 – 1 loss to the eventual champions, the Unionville-Milliken Strikers 2000s.  Although the visitors were a year older and highly ranked in Ontario, the White Eagle Girls would sure like to opportunity to play that game again.  The girls regrouped and went on to beat Downriver Rush 2001s 4 -2 and an older Chaos Red 2000s 3 – 1.  Based on a point scoring system, the White Eagles finished in third place out of the 8 teams entered in 2 divisions.

Grassroots Program - Giving Back

The LaSalle Stompers White Eagles Girls stepped up and helped out with a local Grassroots Soccer Program.  They are always willing to give back to the community.

The Grassroots model was put forward to the Ontario Soccer Association (OSA) from FIFA, the world governing body for soccer, and is being adopted throughout the world.  OSA is encouring the Grassroots program to be adopted throughout the province.  The vision is to create a more player centred approach.  This program will lead the children in their first steps/kicks into the wonderful world of soccer.

Sessions consist of fun, short activities and games which can stimulate a learning environment where each player can have their own ball and concentrate on moving the ball in different directions.  This enables them to begin developing physical literacy, play within groups of other children and interacting with coaches in a soccer environment.

The U4's and U5's use the "Active Start" Program.  The U6's use the "Fundamentals" Program.

The success of these programs is dependent on people, like the LaSalle Stompers White Eagles Girls, stepping up and getting involved.  One of the benefits of this model is how it allows the girls to develop leadership and coaching skills.

We encourage everyone to contact a Grassroots Manager in their area today.
